Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 6 oz tomato paste, or tomato paste with basil
  • 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • 29 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp oregano
  • ¼ tsp basil

Instructions

  • Set a large pot over medium heat, and add olive oil. When the olive oil is shimmering, add onions and sauté for about 5 minutes. When the onions are translucent, add the minced garlic. Stir frequently, and let the garlic cook for about 1 minute, to really develop the fragrance and flavor.
  • Add ground beef, and season with salt, pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Brown the beef, while stirring constantly, and breaking the ground beef into small pieces.
  • Once the beef is browned, and broken up fully, add tomato paste. Stir to fully combine all ingredients.
  • Add cans of crushed tomato and tomato sauces, stir to combine. Season with the remaining spices, and bring the sauce to a simmer.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer over low heat, for 30 minutes or more, so the spices have a chance to fully develop and marry in the sauce.
  • Serve over spaghetti squash or your choice of noodles, and garnish with parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
