Classic Spaghetti Sauce with Meat
A classic recipe for hearty, flavorful tomato sauce. Serve over the noodles of your choice, and garnish with cheese for extra decadence!
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-2 lbs ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
- 6 oz tomato paste, or tomato paste with basil
- 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
- 29 oz can of tomato sauce
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp oregano
- ¼ tsp basil
Instructions
- Set a large pot over medium heat, and add olive oil. When the olive oil is shimmering, add onions and sauté for about 5 minutes. When the onions are translucent, add the minced garlic. Stir frequently, and let the garlic cook for about 1 minute, to really develop the fragrance and flavor.
- Add ground beef, and season with salt, pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Brown the beef, while stirring constantly, and breaking the ground beef into small pieces.
- Once the beef is browned, and broken up fully, add tomato paste. Stir to fully combine all ingredients.
- Add cans of crushed tomato and tomato sauces, stir to combine. Season with the remaining spices, and bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Allow the sauce to simmer over low heat, for 30 minutes or more, so the spices have a chance to fully develop and marry in the sauce.
- Serve over spaghetti squash or your choice of noodles, and garnish with parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
